Experience
Stephen has always had an ability to connect with people – working for much of his younger life in sales and marketing roles. Upon turning 30, Stephen felt these communication skills would be better used in supporting people through difficult life issues – and shortly afterward sought further education in psychology.
Upon discovering the therapist’s role was one largely explored by women, Stephen felt there was a void for men seeking male support – and focused his studies and research on men's health, men's support groups, and 1-1 male counseling. Stephen established a men’s peer-support group in the North of England – and a series of similar groups grew from that beginning.
Although not always the case, Stephen observed that men often don’t have relationships with friends or family members that allow for open discussion about sex and mental well-being – so he became focused on creating these spaces and relationships where men can, without shame or embarrassment, explore and better-understand these important areas of life.
During his time in higher education, Stephen’s flair for writing in an approachable, down-to-earth manner was noticed and commented on by University lecturers – inspiring him to write or share his knowledge with a number of online publications, which to date now include Men’s Health, Livestrong, The Scotsman newspaper, The Enhanced Male, and as a guest writer for a series of physical training and health publications that specifically focus on men’s mental and sexual well-being.
